About Beaver Scouts
Beaver Scouting is the youngest section of the Scout Movement, for children aged 6-8 years old. This followed by the Cub Section for ages 8-10.5.
Currently the Beaver Section meets on Mondays during term time. If a child misses 3 consecutive weeks without a valid reason then his/her place will be offered to someone else.
Like most things nothing is free, but we try to keep our costs to a minimum and fundraising helps us achieve this. Subs are due in September, January and April and are currently £35 per term. New members visit for 4-6 weeks which is approx. half a term, before being invested, so that the children are sure that they enjoy attending. When invested as a Beaver Scout they will receive the appropriate badges and a Group Scarf – to enable the subs to be kept at £35 it has been decided to charge each new member £5 to cover the cost of a group scarf and badges. At this point they will require a uniform (beaver sweatshirt and navy trousers). Please do not rush out and buy one immediately! A child’s first visit is free of charge, thereafter subs will be £2.50 each week until they’re invested. The balance of that term’s subs will then be due (£20)
We aim to provide and deliver a balanced programme for our Beaver Scouts with games, crafts, drama, music, story-telling, visits and outings. The children work towards badges of which there are 6 challenge badges and many optional ones. (More of this when your child has been invested)
